Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, urban life and how we use cities has changed dramatically. This is particularly evident in the context of mobility. Individual modes of transport such as walking, cycling and the private car dominate the streets, while the use of public transport and services such as car-sharing have dramatically reduced. How can cities around the world ensure that their recovery strategies reflect these trends and simultaneously address sustainability and equity?
The panel discussion, “,” organised by the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit and co-hosted by ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Cities and the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft as part of the “ZEIT for the Climate” series of events, will discuss sustainable forms of mobility in the context of spontaneous interventions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Moderated by Die Zeit journalist Petra Pinzler, panelists include Ricky Burdett CBE (Director, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Cities), Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE (Mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone) and Jean-Louis Missika (Former Deputy Mayor, Paris).
