About me

Dr Christopher Kissane is Engagement and Impact Lead for the Department of Economic History.

Chris is a historian, writer and reviewer, whose  has appeared in The Irish Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times, and various magazines and journals. He is  the presenter of  at the Other Voices festivals, and also presents the Ireland’s Edge . He has worked with BBC radio and TV as a BBC New Generation Thinker. In 2022 he was an artist-in-residence at the  in Paris.

His research focuses on food in history, the history of citizenship, and Irish emigration. He has published his first book, Food, Religion, & Communities in Early Modern Europe, (Bloomsbury).

In 2014 and 2015 he was a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor Patrick Wallis & Professor Chris Minns. He has a BA from Trinity College Dublin, and an M.Phil & D.Phil in Economic & Social History from Balliol College, Oxford.
