With constant scrutiny of its public service remit, multiple new entrants in the market and changes in the way audiences consume content, what’s the future of the BBC? Tim Davie will be in conversation with Minouche Shafik, Director of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.

Meet our speaker and chair

Tim Davie became Director-General of the BBC in September 2020. Prior to this, Tim was Chief Executive of BBC Studios, the BBC’s principal commercial subsidiary. He was acting BBC Director-General between November 2012 and April 2013. He previously held the roles of Director of Audio and Music and Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences. Before joining the BBC, he was Vice President of Marketing and Franchise at PepsiCo Europe.

Minouche Shafik is Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to this, she was Deputy Governor of the Bank of England. She is an alumna of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. Her new book, What We Owe Each Other: A New Social Contract, is out now.

The Department of Media and Communications () is a world-leading centre for education and research in communication and media studies at the heart of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s academic community in central London. This event forms part of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s Shaping the Post-COVID World initiative, a series imagining what the world could look like after the crisis, and how we get there. The series will lead up to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Festival 2022, which this year is taking place from Monday 13 to Saturday 18 June 2022.
