Infinite growth of material consumption in a finite world is an impossibility,’ said German-British statistician and economist E.F. Schumacher. The quest for economic goals often at the cost of the ecology has shaped our history. There are continuing debates surrounding the pursuit of a net global economic growth and the earth’s carrying capacity.

And so for us, shaping the world now means seeking a balance towards sustainability. The area pictured is a gold mining inside a tropical forest, which is supposed to be a carbon sink, in the northern part of Indonesia’s Borneo island.
