Student activism has sparked some of the most important movements in history – from the Soweto uprisings of 1976 in South Africa to the current “Fridays for Futures” protests started by Greta Thunberg. In the United Kingdom, student activists at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ reached national headlines in 1969 protesting the Vietnam War, apartheid in South Africa and the involvement of the former ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ director — Walter Adams in Rhodesia.
When we look to the future of international injustices such as climate change, the voices of students, especially in the Global South, will play a pivotal role in shaping and effecting change.
