Course Choice

  1. Every MSc programme at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ has a set of programme regulations, which outline the courses that you are permitted to take. Unless your regulations specifically state that you are able to take a course from outside the regulations with permission, then you are expected to only choose courses listed in your programme regulations. The Programme Regulations below are for the 2023/24 academic year. The Programme Regulations for the 2024/25 academic year are subject to changes:
  2. -          MSc Economics

    -          MSc Economics (Two Year Programme)

    -          MSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics

  3. If you wish to take an optional course outside the Economics Department, you should check the relevant course guide for any instructions on enrolment deadlines and/or contact the department concerned if the procedure for signing up is not clear. The Department of Economics will not be able to help with queries about courses in other departments.
  4. You will register for your courses online via a platform called ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ for You. You can find information on how to make your ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Taught Postgraduate course choices .
  5. You must be signed up for 4 units of courses from within your programme regulations and must be registered on all Michaelmas and Lent term courses when Graduate Course Choice closes in October. Compulsory courses will have already been selected for you.
  6. It may be possible for you to audit courses of interest.  Auditing is when you attend only the lectures of a course, with the permission of the lecturer. Many courses will also allow you to access the online class materials and reading materials of a course in Moodle.

However, do note that you are not formally enrolled on the course. This means that you are not permitted to attend seminars or to take the assessment of a course, and it will not appear on your final transcript. You do not need to request to audit a course via the course choice system. Instead, you should approach the course convenor directly to ask for permission to audit their course.
