MSc Finance & Economics graduation trip to Sardinia

Enrico Calabresi (MSc Finance & Economics, 2018-19) blogs about the class graduation trip to Sardinia this summer.

Sardinia FE 2019

Since the beginning of the course we all found ourselves spending a lot of time with each other, both during the many organised activities and outside of the classrooms. We soon realised how lucky we were to be part of a group of students that not only embraced the academic challenges of the MSc Finance and Economics, but also got along very well on a personal level. Benefitting from the relatively small cohort, we became not only classmates, but also friends. After having heard wonderful things about the graduation trip of last year's class, we decided that these new friendships should be properly cemented by also going on a trip after the final exams.

Sardinia and especially the town of San Teodoro seemed to be the perfect destination as it combines beautiful beaches, great Italian food, and active social life. Earlier in the year we rented several neighbouring apartments and flew there as soon as our exams were over. The next seven days were the perfect coronation to the tough but amazing year we just had!

We spent most of our days relaxing and bonding together at different beaches, one more beautiful than the other. One day we even went on a boat trip to a remote island in an stunning national park close by. Over and above we enjoyed the Italian cuisine by having dinners together either at the beach or at home grilling tonnes of meat. At night we enjoyed each other's company sipping Italian liquors and Chinese wine, reminiscing about all the great adventures of the past ten months.

We are immensely grateful to Osmana Raie and the Department of Finance as a whole for providing us with this wonderful opportunity. We also want to deeply thank Morag Brocklehurst (Associate Programme Director) and Rhys Cadman (Programme Manager) for all their support throughout the year.
