Janan Neirami wins WCIB Dissertation Prize

The Department of Finance is pleased to announce that Janan Neirami, an MSc Risk & Finance graduate, has been awarded with the WCIB prize for her dissertation entitled “On the Wrong Side of the Line? Narrowly Tailored Credit Events and Regulating the CDS Market”. The Worshipful Company of International Bankers (WCIB) awards prizes each year to a number of participating institutions.

Prizewinner Janan Neirami with Omiros D. Sarikas

A prize giving ceremony and reception was hosted by the Department of Finance on Monday 16 December 2019, to celebrate the occasion. The prize of a cheque for £300 and certificate of merit was presented to Janan, by Omiros D. Sarikas, a Liveryman of the WCIB and alumnus of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.

Dr Domingos Romualdo, Co-Director for the MSc Risk & Finance attended the ceremony to congratulate Janan on behalf of Department of Finance faculty. The Ceremony was also attended by Mary Comben, Programme Manager for the MSc Risk & Finance, and Helena Way, Business Partnerships Officer from the Philanthropy and Global Engagement Division.

Previous Department of Finance winners of the WCIB Dissertation Prize include:

(MSc Finance 2016) for his dissertation entitled “Determinants of the Method of Payment in U.S Mergers and Acquisitions”.

(MSc Risk & Finance 2016) for his dissertation entitled “On the origins and failures of prospect theory: proposing a new utility function”.
