ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS announces 2021 Mladena and Dianko Sotirov Visiting Fellow

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS is delighted to announce that Vuk Vuksanović has been appointed the 2021 Mladena and Dianko Sotirov Visiting Fellow.

Sotirov Fellows study Bulgaria and the Balkan region, working to understand its recent history, international affairs, the challenges it faces today and the prospects of tomorrow. The Visiting Fellowship is made possible thanks to the generous endowment by Mrs Mladena Sotirov.

Vuk Vuksanović is a political scientist from Serbia who specialises in international affairs, with Master degrees from the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Belgrade and the London School of Economics and Political Science (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳).

Vuksanović brings a wealth of experience and expertise to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS from academia, the private sector and government. He worked for two years at the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Sector for Security Policy, Belgrade, and as an analyst and consultant for several policy think tanks providing political and geopolitical risk assessments pertaining to the regional markets of the Balkans, the Middle East and the post-Soviet space.

Vuk is currently completing his PhD research at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ in international relations. His PhD deals with the Serbian balancing act between Russia and the West between 2008 and 2020, and he will use this Fellowship to focus on the growing Sino-Serbian partnership.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS Director Professor Christopher Coker says, “Vuk is well known to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS as a valued and active Associate. He has participated in several events held by the Central and South-East Europe Programme and published multiple IDEAS strategic updates and reports. Vuk is also a frequent commentator for Serbian and international media on regional affairs.”
