This event explored 'human security' - a person centred approach to ensuring people around the world can live free from fear, want, and indignity.

Yukio Takasu, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Human Security, explained the origins of the idea and why the private sector has an important role to play, while ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS' Mary Martin spoke about the United Nations at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ project's work on developing a business partnership framework.

Yukio Takasu was appointed as Special Adviser on Human Security by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in 2017. 

Mary Martin is director of the UN Business and Human Security Initiative, part of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS  project. 

Chair: Michael Cox is Director of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS and Emeritus Professor of International Relations at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.
