ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers appointments

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers is available to help with your career queries and planning.

In addition to the four career discussions that all ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ students can book each term with the Careers team, IR students have exclusive access to additional appointments with IR Career Consultant Lewis Humphreys.

Lewis will be running careers appointments specifically for International Relations students over several weeks in Autumn and Winter Term (aside from reading week), usually on Monday and Friday afternoons. 

Appointments are also available Monday to Friday with other careers consultants. 

A careers appointment can help if you are unsure of what to do, would like to explore options, need help with your CV, or have any career related query.

  • For BSc year 1 & 2 students:
    International Relations: exploring options & gaining experience

    Thursday 27 October

    Designed with first and second year undergraduate International Relations students in mind, this seminar talks through how to begin shaping your own career strategy. We will look at ways you can begin exploring options and ways you might source work experience opportunities.

  • Introduction to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers and how you might use your time at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ for 1st year UG IR students
    Tuesday 9 November, 60 minutes

    Join this session to hear about how you can make the most of your time at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and ways you might gain experience. Designed with first year undergraduate International Relations students in mind, this seminar provides an introduction to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers. We talked about ways you can begin to explore your career options, as well as suggestions for activities and experiences you could become engaged in whilst at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to help develop your CV. This informal discussion was led by Kirsty Whitelock and Lewis Humphreys, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers Consultants.

    Join this session to hear how you can take steps towards your own career planning, including how to explore options and look for work experience. Designed with second year undergraduate International Relations students in mind, this seminar talks through how to begin shaping your own career strategy. We also looked at ways you might source work experience opportunities. This session was led by Kirsty Whitelock and Lewis Humphreys, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers Consultants.

  • Options & career strategy for BSc IR year 3 students
    Thursday 14 October 2021, 60 minutes

    Join Kirsty to hear more about your career options and how to create a career strategy. We will look at options with a BSc International Relations degree and where previous graduates have gone on to, as well as have time for questions.

    This seminar is for International Relations undergraduate students in their final year.

  • MSc International Relations: careers options & strategy
    Tuesday 19 October 2021, 60 minutes

    This seminar for postgraduate International Relations students will explore how you can develop a career strategy and take a look at the career destinations of IR graduates. Identifying the most effective way to plan and manage your job search is critical to success. During this seminar we will also suggest job search strategies and how you can market yourself clearly to employers.

    This event will be particularly useful if you are considering career options and would like to know how to plan the next steps on your career journey, or are planning on submitting applications.
