Sir Veerasamy Ringadoo was President of the Republic of Mauritius, and a founder of the League of Tamils.
Born in 1920, Ringadoo was educated and Port Louis Grammar School and completed the LLB at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ in 1948. From 1986-1992, he served as Governor General of the Republic of Mauritius, until in March 1992 he when he became President.
In 1937, he was a founder of the League of Tamils. He entered the Legislative Council in 1951. He held various ministries. He was a governor of the International Monetary Fund (IMP) and chair of governors of the African Development Bank.
