Given our commitment to identifying and nurturing future talent, the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Law School normally advertises new academic positions at Assistant Professor level only. We usually advertise new and open academic positions in the Autumn term (usually in October/November). Our faculty vacancies are advertised on the and on
During the academic year 2024/25, the Law School will run an extended pilot of the ‘paper method’ recruitment process, which operates as follows:
- The applications received are shortlisted by a Selection Panel
- Shortlisted candidates are invited to give a presentation on their research to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Law faculty; to meet with the Law School’s leadership; and to meet with colleagues to discuss their teaching and research profiles
- Shortlisted applicants will be provided with information on the nature of the presentation and how best to approach it
- The Law School will pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses, and accommodation costs for all shortlisted candidates to attend the presentation and meetings.
The Law School panel will consist of 6 members, comprising the Dean, Associate Dean, two professors and two associate professors. Of these latter four, one professor and one associate professor would focus during each candidate’s visit on Education and Citizenship, and one of each on Research. For appointments at the Professorial level, we may increase the size of the panel.
We are committed to ensuring that our faculty is diverse and representative and strongly encourage applications from under-represented groups. We continually review our recruitment processes with a view to increasing the diversity of our faculty.
