Taxation has been part of the programme since the foundation of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ in 1895. Today the Taxation group is engaged in research on a wide range of topics from international taxation and tax disputes to studies of data on tax and inequality, from the theoretical foundations of VAT to empirical studies of the role of the legal system in tax avoidance, among others.

The group engages with the wider tax community in practice, industry, government and civil society through its lively interdisciplinary programme of Taxation Seminars and other contributions and events.

Post-graduate study of tax law at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ began over forty years ago as part of the University of London LLM, the oldest tax LLM programme in Europe. The Taxation programme in ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s LLM continues this tradition, offering a range of courses covering some of the most innovative and academically challenging topics in tax law. The ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Law School is the centre for taxation and offers opportunities for PhD students interested in this field.
