About me

Dr Cristina Hernández Quevedo is Technical Officer at the  and Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, based at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Health. Cristina works on a range of projects on health systems’ monitoring, international health care comparisons and performance assessment at European level. In particular, she works as editor and author of the Health Systems in Transition (HiT) reviews, State of Health in the EU Country Profiles, and Health Systems and Policy Monitor platform for a range of countries, including France, Portugal, Romania and Spain.

She also contributes to the analysis work of the Observatory for a range of research topics, including health inequalities and lifestyle factors, access to health care and long-term care services, socioeconomic determinants of health, and European health systems and policies. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters on these topics and has contributed to their dissemination at national and international forums.

Before joining the European Observatory in 2007, Cristina worked as a Research Fellow in the EU-funded project “ECuity Project”, led by Professor Andrew Jones (University of York) and Professor Eddy van Doorslaer (Erasmus University Rotterdam) at the University of York. Cristina holds a PhD in Economics (2007) and a master’s degree in Health Economics (2003) from the University of York, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Spain (2002).
