CARDIOPROOF

Proof of Concept of Model-based Cardiovascular Prediction

At its core, CARDIOPROOF is really a project about modelling. It aims to develop cardiac simulation modelling tools that are focused on answering questions that are of real importance for clinicians that are trying to improve practice by tailoring care for individual patients.

Principal Investigator: Alistair McGuire
Research Team: Huseyin Naci, Maximilian Salcher
Start Date: 01 October 2013
End Date: 30 September 2016
Region: Europe
Keywords: cardiac treatment, image-based technology, congenital heart disease, clinical decision-making, health policy, health economics

CARDIOPROOF was a European-Commission FP7 funded project on congenital heart disease. ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ works alongside centres of excellence in cardiac treatment (German Heart Institute in Berlin; Great Ormond Street Hospital in London; and Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù in Rome) and world leaders in engineering and simulation modelling. ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s role in CARDIOPROOF was to undertake a randomised controlled experiment to assess how novel, image-based technology may impact clinical decision-making for patients with congenital heart conditions.
