About me

Alastair’s research interests lie in understanding how people and organisations make sense of uncertain futures. In a world of growing turbulence and disruption, workers and organisations representing them find themselves in front of multiple and rapidly emerging external pressures. From geopolitical crises to technological advancements, workers have to make sense of and navigate these increasingly novel conditions. 

Alastair is particularly interested in scenario methods and phenomenology, and their application to Employment Relations and Human Resources research. He believes that explicitly conceptualising the future can enhance decision making and organisational learning as well as provide rich insights to scholars.

Alastair holds a distinction for an MSc degree in Diversity and Change Management from Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Denmark. He received his BSc in International Management and French from the University of Bath, United Kingdom.

Prior to embarking on his academic career Alastair worked in change and project management positions, most recently as a Digital Projects Manager in a French Software-as-a-Service start-up. He also worked as a Management Consultant at engineering and management consultancy Mott MacDonald, focusing on procurement and operating model design.
