Sharon Anyango

Sharon Anyango (Swiss Re Scholar) 

Sharon started her career as a Quantity Surveyor, working on various projects ranging from commercial buildings to churches. In 2018 she co-founded clinicPesa where she has helped families and healthcare facilities with innovative health solutions.

This program will open doors for Sharon to cooprorate with and meet other like-minded entrepreneurs who are creating impact in the world, explore potential partnerships, and opportunities for expansion.

Lindsay Camacho Beebe 

For the past nine years Lindsay has worked at the nexus of impact investing, international development and social entrepreneurship with impact investing pioneer Acumen. At Acumen, she leads on large grants with government and bilateral donors, and manages programs in climate finance, gender lens investing and refugee lens investing. Before Acumen, she was a congressional aide in the US House of Representatives, worked with asylum seekers in Australia, and taught English with the Japanese Exchange & Teaching Programme. Her academic background is in diplomacy and foreign affairs.

Lindsay believes that we do not have to choose between people and the planet in the transition to a just and inclusive net zero economy. Through the EMSBE programme, she hopes to develop purpose-driven business skills, learn new strategies and broaden her network.

Olukayode Odeyinde

Olukayode Odeyinde (Swiss Re Scholar)

Olukayode worked in some of Africa's largest financial institutions, including Axa Group, Access Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, and the Central Bank of Nigeria before founding Nucleusis Africa, which leverages technology and finance to drive access to health insurance and improve health outcomes in Africa.

Olukayode believes that confronting the scale of healthcare issues on the African continent requires aligning the vision with the right education and network. The EMSBE provides a unique platform to interrogate strategies and approaches in achieving significant impact. 

Raquel Pais

Raquel Pais 

Raquel is an indepdenent graphic designer and cultural producer based in Portugal. After completing her MA in Applied Imagination in the Creative Industries at Central St Martin's, she turned her research into a brand - À CAPUCHA! - that aims to revamp the traditional textile crafts in cooperation with the situated practices of women artisans.

Raquel has also worked as an assistant curator in the first and second editions of the Porto Design Biennale and is currently a project manager and programme coordinator at INSTITUTO, an independent cultural space in Porto offering a programme that diverges from the field of architecture to encompass the visual and spatial arts, critical thinking and multidisciplinary collaborations. 

Raquel hopes that the EMSBE will develop her core knowledge knowledge on business strategic thinking and social innovation, enabling her to take on leadership roles while maintaining a focus on creating positive social impact.

María Antonia Puentes 

Antonia's career has been closely tied to voluntary organisations and she has an extensive background in voluntary work. Her work has focused on learning about effective sales and brand strategies, and she has worked with various mass market brands for Procter & Gamble. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her excellent results together with her contribution in the sustainability and CSR strategies, recognized with two CEO awards. 

She also dedicated her time and efforts to various NGOs in Chile. At Infocap, she provided lectures on business and entrepreneurship to informal workers. Furthermore, she volunteered in slums for over 4 years at NGO TECHO Chile. During this time, Antonia worked to implement social programs that focused on education, employability, and housing solutions, all with a focus on community development.

After completing several post-graduate programs in traditional business, such as an Innovation Management Diploma at the University of Chile and a Global Management summer school at UCL, Antonia's goal is to learn about the transformation of industries into purpose-led organizations. Her passion for sustainable development and social justice is what motivates her to pursue a career in social impact. She believes that obtaining a master's degree will equip her with the necessary skills and knowledge to work more effectively in the development sector and contribute to positive societal change. In addition, she hopes to network with other professionals who share her passion for the field.

Blake Rogers

Blake Rogers 

Blake has lived in Canada’s Yukon Territory near the Alaska border for fifteen years. During that time he has taught high school students in a remote northern village, advised political leaders at both the territorial and national levels, and worked as an advocate for several non-governmental organizations. For over ten years he has served as the Executive Director of the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon (TIA Yukon), an NGO that represents hundreds of tourism businesses in the most northwestern of Canada’s thirteen provinces and territories.

The pandemic has decimated the global tourism industry. Blake wants to help Canada’s North rebuild tourism in a way that enables businesses to become stronger and puts in place safeguards to help ensure responsible tourism in the region as travel begins to stabilize. Blake would also like to explore ways in which tourism can be a force for positive change on broad, longstanding issues such as climate change and reconciliation between Canada and its First Nation Peoples.

James Large

James Large

As the Business Development Officer at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens James leads the commercial operations and development at one of the most visited museums in North East England. As traditional funding sources for arts, history and culture reduce, his role has become immensely challenging and satisfying, as he leads the introduction of new commercial ventures to help fund our extensive exhibitions and education programme. Over a 3-year period he has led innovations to more than double commercial income, ensuring financial resilience for this highly valued regional institution. He previously held a number of financial and development roles within local government, with experience working within Electoral Services, Planning, Child Protection, Adult Safeguarding, Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, Finance and Human Resources. During this time, he also studied part-time at Northumbria University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership and Management (First Class). For James, The EMSBE programme is a unique opportunity for to engage with emerging research on business for social purpose, and work collaboratively with fellow classmates to further knowledge, expertise and friendships across other industries. He will use his postgraduate research to accelerate the Museum’s entrepreneurial income generation programme. His long-term goal is to establish a new organisation to facilitate more joint working between small and medium sized museums, enabling institutions to collaborate on operational matters, share and reduce costs, and come together to capitalise on entrepreneurial and innovative funding methods.

Christele Ahoussi

Christele Ahoussi

Christele's undergraduate studies were in Business Administration (Ashesi University in Ghana). She currently works as an electronic fixed income salesperson at BofA and was previously briefly in private equity at the beginning of hercareer. Her ambition is to contribute to poverty reduction in Africa by helping awaken social consciousness in small and medium businesses. Christele aims to achieve this by operating as a consultant and an angel investor focused on developing socially oriented businesses. 

Klicia Oliviera Wilson

Klicia Oliviera Wilson

Klicia is a geophysicist by background and worked for Shell for five years on oil reservoir management, well planning and operations before founding Cais Mentoria, a social enterprise focused on increasing employability for Brazilian university students outside of the country's main economic hubs. As a social enterprise founder from a scientific background, the program will allow her to gain valuable skills in business management, impact measurement, social finance and design. She is also looking forward to networking with a like-minded cohort and connecting to other social enterprise ecosystems, social impact organizations and social responsibility departments. Besides acquiring skills to develop her own social enterprise she hopes to become equipped to help the development of other social enterprises in Brazil not only through her experience but through the wealth of knowledge obtained from the studies at the Marshall Institute. 

Francis Idehan

Francis Idehan

Francis is a New York qualified lawyer with many years’ international transactional experience, most recently working at Hogan Lovells International in London, where he specialised in African private equity and business development. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Francis was in-house counsel at the African Development Bank in Tunisia, where he worked with other development finance institutions and sponsors to structure and set up private equity funds in Africa. Francis also worked at the preeminent global law firms of White & Case and Shearman & Sterling in New York and Clifford Chance in London, where he represented leading investment banks in various finance transactions and advised leading global private equity firms in the debt financing of their cross-border acquisitions. Francis originally conceived DelphCap as a boutique deal origination and capital introduction service to support international investors with an appetite for Africa by initiating investment origination activities in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, post EMSBE, Francis intends to reshape DelphCap into a more robust advisory service with better defined impact objectives. Collaborating with a partner who has an LL.M. from Harvard, an MBA from Columbia University and significant experience as the ESG & Sustainability Manager of an award-winning African private equity fund that is supported by major global impact investors, we aim to leverage our combined transactional experience and familiarity with development finance and private equity in Sub-Saharan Africa to develop DelphCap’s ESG and Impact advisory capability as part of a broader offering of sustainable and responsible investment advisory services. 

Robert E. Jones

Robert E. Jones

Robert has worked in government, politics, advocacy, and communications for over 20 years. He has a bachelor's degree in political science, a master's degree in political management, and recently graduated from the Culinary Institute of America as part of an intentional pivot into food systems reform work. Currently, he lives in Amsterdam and leads public and regulatory affairs for a Dutch food tech startup on track to disrupt the global meat production system. Addressing the climate crisis and the contributing role of food systems to it is his number one passion. He has come to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ in order to level up my business and entrepreneurship skills to better serve his fast-growing company and to prepare to start his own disruptive B Corp next.

Nicholas Rees

Nicholas Rees

Nick has worked within financial services for 23 years, starting his career at Goldman Sachs in 1998 before moving to smaller, independent businesses to focus on advising private clients and families. Having recently completed an online course in sustainable finance at Cambridge University, and in completing the CFA ESG certificate, he feels this programme is a natural next step. He hopes to learn from professors and classmates alike, in order to gain a broader perspective and hope this will help him in his next new role, wherever that may be.

Elisa Espinoza

Born and raised in the San Francisco-Bay Area, Elisa experienced first-hand the opulence created by a booming tech industry coupled with a crushing affordability crisis that increased homelessness and pushed families out of the region. The juxtaposition of these extremes was startling and left her motivated to find solutions that could alleviate the inequality of wealth and opportunity. Intending to help those in need, Elisa studied Political Economy and Global Poverty at the University of California, Berkeley, and for the past seven years, she has delved into the world of poverty alleviation and community work. Elisa worked at an NGO in Cambodia, a nonprofit serving the homeless in the Bay Area, and most recently at a community foundation. In her current job, she helps wealthy people give away their money to charitable causes, with a specific focus on early childhood development. Elisa carries the responsibility of making the greatest possible impact with limited dollars.

Ibijoke Faborode 

Over the past ten years, Ibijoke has worked in policy and government affairs, strategic communications, international trade and investment advisory, development project management and non-profit management.She recently co-founded a political advocacy organization - ElectHER where she drives the vision to bridge inequality gaps in Africa by enabling women’s political representation and leadership, with plans to set up an endowment fund and establish a think-tank over the next year. Prior to this, she worked with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where she led Policy, trade and investment relations across West Africa. She has also managed communication campaigns for governments and some of the biggest brands in Africa, as Regional Business Development Manager Sub-Saharan Africa, for Paris-based The Africa Report. She has a Bachelors degree in History and International Relations, a Masters degree in Project Management and concluding an Executive Graduate Programme in Business Analytics at Imperial Business School. For Ibijoke this programme presents a unique opportunity to deepen her knowledge on social innovation design, solidify her leadership skills, learn from and network with like-minds, scale up her start-up and incubate her new project- IKHAYA (meaning home in Swahili)- a digital network to harness Africa’s diaspora population for the socio-economic advancement of the continent.

Emily Hoble

For Emily passion for social impact has been a constant thread throughout her life. She fundraised for the 2004 tsunami aged 11, volunteered in Ghana aged 18 and worked at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh aged 19. Since then, she has built experience in the world of business and advised hundreds of clients on their growth strategies. Her ambition is to align this business experience with her passion for social impact. Her social impact interest was refined during her undergraduate degree in International Relations at the University of Exeter. Emily focused much of her course on social issues, including the refugee crisis, women’s rights and climate change. After spending a year studying and working in China, she wrote her dissertation on examining Normative Power Europe Theory in the face of China’s human rights record. For the last five years, Emily has worked for London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s economic development agency. Her role was to provide support to international companies that are considering setting up and scaling their business in London.

Kelvin Hughes 

Kelvin studied business management with a desire to go into investment banking. After a brief flirtation with banking, some sound advice from his Grandma Kelvin ended up in consumer goods. Kelvin ended up in the world of social business and has been attempting to build social businesses in one way or another since 2013. Kelvin wants to better understand the rationale behind what he often sees as irrational and be able to engage in a meaningful way, especially when the differences are so nuanced that they are not immediately seen. He expects to have his mind changed on many things as he learns from others' experiences and discusses his own in greater depth. He is fascinated and challenged by the ethics and philosophy of social change.

William Oliver

William's motivation stems from his late father who challenged him to grow by pursuing opportunities and experiences that ordinarily seem impossible. At sixteen he participated in a youth commission that conceptualized plans to build the first youth center in his hometown and a decade later, he returned to be sworn in as the youngest City Councilmember. During the span of that decade, he served as a staffer for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and tackled various issues concerning her diverse Central California constituency. In 2012, he pursued a special opportunity to work on President Barack Obama's re-election in the battleground State of Colorado. Following the campaign, he applied his undergraduate degree in Business at Fresno State University to work for the Fresno Economic Development Corporation, a non-profit organization. As a Vice President, he works closely with businesses and community leaders to direct programming such as new initiatives that embed economic growth with racial equity and inclusion to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes for all. William believes the curriculum is uniquely suited to accelerate his career growth and ability to benefit others.

Madeleine Opira

Madeleine holds an LLB in Law with French Law and Language from Leicester University. She applied to the programme to learn more on how to scale a social business, and gain more in depth knowledge about this sector. Her aspiration is that it will have a deep impact on firstly the progression of her business and secondly her career in providing the necessary tools for positive development.

Hana Taiji 

Hana is the leader of an integrated sport for development (S4D) charity and social enterprise in Lesotho called Kick4Life, which includes health and life-skills programmes, a top-flight football club and scholar-athlete academy, the Hokahanya Inn & Conference Centre and No.7 Restaurant. All of Kick4Life’s programmatic and enterprise activities are dedicated to helping underserved youth through socio-economic development. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where she was a Social Anthropology concentrator and varsity soccer athlete. Before entering the S4D sector, she worked in branding, graphic design and project management in Canada and at an education technology start-up in Lesotho. Through Kick4Life, she is part of a global team of S4D leaders collaborating on the development of a dynamic consulting process called Social Enterprise Assist (SEA). Since piloting SEA in 2018, she has worked with dozens of organizations from 27 countries across Asia, Africa and South America. Her passion for football and belief in its ability to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals fuels her mission: to help Kick4Life and other S4D organizations ensure their financially sustainability through diversified funding portfolios and purpose-driven businesses. She hopes to broaden her understanding of how S4D organizations can contribute to the larger economy while amplifying their own impacts. Ultimately, she aim to substantially improve performance, financial stability and mission fulfillment at Kick4Life and help expand SEA’s global consulting activities to more worthy organizations.

Sandra A. Owusu-Kyerematen

Sandra majored in Economics at Agnes Scott College, a women's college in the US state of Georgia. When she graduated in May 2006, she started my first job in payment systems consulting and traveled across the US for 3 years supporting retail banking partners. She moved home to Ghana in 2009 and began working with Vodafone Ghana. After 5 years of strategy and commercial work there, she became country manager for Tonaton.com, an online marketplace, and spent two years helping buyers and sellers connect online. She moved into ICT4D in March 2017, in search of greater impact and professional meaning and found exactly that, when she joined Viamo Technologies Limited as its country director. Viamo is a social enterprise that specializes in using mobile technology to drive behavior change communications and evidence gathering for NGOs, governments and private sector. Her motivation for joining this program is to gain new skills for her burgeoning passion to apply commercial principles to development work in Africa.

Ryan Hillier

Ryan is a lawyer by profession and social entrepreneur by vocation. After earning his law degree at Université de Montréal in 2016, he was called to the Québec Bar in 2017. For nearly 10 years, he worked as an associate at two of Canada's largest law firms, in the field of litigation and dispute resolution. In 2006, he co-founded and became the CEO of NOVAlex, a law firm that offers one hour of pro bono legal services to admissible low-income individuals, non-profits and start-up entrepreneurs for every hour of paid legal services provided to business clients. It is his hope that the programme will help him acquire the tools to successfully scale his existing business' revenue and social impact.

Peter Searle

Peter is a senior manager at New Leaders Foundation (NLF), an education implementation and advisory non-profit company. NLF specialises in the basic education system and is currently running one of the largest programmes in the South African education sector, the Data Driven Districts programme. Prior to NLF, he was an economic and strategy consultant at Deloitte Consulting in Johannesburg. He holds honours and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Cape Town. His main motivation behind doing the EMSBE, simply put, is to push his thinking. Engaging with material and being exposed to leading thinking on the improved ways in which businesses, governments and civil societies should operate to help solve the world’s most pressing social problems are especially appealing prospects to him. He believes that we need to do things differently and we need to do them together. He expects the programme will help shape his thinking in this regard.

Caitlin Semo 

Caitlin Semo is the Policy & Special Projects Manager at (RED), where she works with corporate and NGO partners to develop activations, products and events that raise money and awareness for the AIDS fight. In her 5 years at (RED), she has executed major campaigns and fundraising events, managed (RED)’s non-profit partner network and worked with corporate partners to develop impact messaging for their consumers and employees. Prior to (RED), Caitlin worked on the 2012 presidential re-election campaign of Barack Obama in its New York headquarters and Virginia field offices. She received her bachelor's degree from New York University, where she studied Politics and Media, Culture and Communications. Caitlin is excited to join this cohort and learn from her peers and professors on best practices for social business and entrepreneurship. Moving forward, she hopes to utilize her skills and knowledge gained at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to help evolve large corporations’ social responsibility strategies; and, in the long term, transform how start-ups incorporate social impact and sustainability into their corporate cultures and missions.

Ieva Kajokaite

After completing degrees in ethnology and gender studies, Ieva worked on a variety of charity projects focused on mental health and the social integration of refugees in Italy and the UK. This experience led her to become interested in questions of charity effectiveness, and in particular how donors can raise industry standards of impact measurement. She worked as Chief Strategy Officer of Founders Pledge, building a community of tech entrepreneurs committed to doing good. Ieva views this MSc as an exciting opportunity to examine in more depth the potential of charities and social businesses to act as hubs of innovation and powerful agents of social change, as well as to explore how she can personally contribute in the most meaningful way.

Amma Mensah

Amma Mensah 

Amma graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2010 with a BSc degree in Psychology. She begun pursuing my passion for human development through a career in the third and social sectors: working in local government, education and now, as a social entrepreneur. She founded the education social enterprise, Beyond the Classroom in 2011 and continues to be the key driving force behind the organisation. Her achievements in social enterprise have garnered a number of awards and national media coverage including The Evening Standard, Financial Times and The Daily Telegraph, as well as recognition from former Prime Minister, David Cameron. She also supports the wider social enterprise sector as the youngest trustee of UnLtd (Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs), responsible for the management of a £150 million endowment. She is the youngest director and trustee of Business Launchpad: London’s leading youth enterprise charity, helping under thirty year olds to start their own businesses.  Coupled with herprofessional credentials, she hopes EMBSE will prepare her for a new career in corporate social responsibility, exploring the intersectionality between government, the private and third sectors.

Kate Sandle

Since the launch in the UK, Kate has been part of a small team building the B Corp movement. As the Head of Community at B Lab UK (the charity rolling out B Corp), she worked with the existing community to strengthen and build the movement. She has always been driven by the idea that business has a greater role to play in society and prior to B Lab UK, she worked for Sir Ronald Cohen ('Father of British Venture Capital and Social Investment') at The Portland Trust. During her time there she worked with the private sector on programmes to aid economic development in both Israel and Palestine. Previously, she spent four years organising international conferences all over the world. She graduated from The University of Leeds where she read International Relations and choose to focus on the Middle East. She hopes this programme will enable her to explore the broader ecosystem and better understand the challenges faced by social businesses, an area of particular interest is measuring impact.

Thomas Singer 

 He was a principal researcher in the Sustainability Center at The Conference Board, a global business research organization. His research focused on corporate social responsibility and sustainability issues. He had worked on circular economy, impact valuation, trends in ESG disclosure, and best practices in the governance of corporate sustainability. Prior to joining The Conference Board, he worked as a sustainability strategy consultant with Blu Skye Sustainability Consulting and SustainAbility, where he focused on strategy development, opportunity assessment, competitive analysis, and stakeholder engagement. He began his career as a management consultant in Washington D.C. with Kaiser Associates, primarily working on competitive analysis and benchmarking projects. He graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Relations and a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership. He views the EMSBE program as an exciting next step in his professional development, and as an opportunity to identify ways to incorporate social entrepreneurship into his work. The program fits naturally with his deep interest in the subjects of social enterprise, corporate sustainability, and entrepreneurship, which has been significant throughout both his academic experience and career.

Ashley Speyer

Ashley is a Senior Associate on the Lean Data team at Acumen and responsible for leading Lean Data projects in the US and developing training content. She started at Acumen in 2014 in the New York office where she worked to streamline project management across multiple teams and to help build Lean Data, an approach to impact measurement. Ashley moved to Nairobi in 2016 to scale Lean Data as an impact measurement service for internal portfolio companies and external clients across East and West Africa. Prior to joining Acumen, she worked at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. Her passion for international development and social entrepreneurship began during her experiences in East Africa in 2007 when she founded a non-profit organization to build a school in Arusha, Tanzania. She has also spent time in Uganda studying international development, and wrote her undergraduate thesis on transnational advocacy networks and their role in enforcing international norms. She received a B.A. in Sociology from Colorado College. She hopes to use this experience at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to complement and strengthen her work at Acumen and become more confident as a leader in the social sector.

Tiffany Yu

 Tiffany is the Founder & CEO of Diversability, an award-winning social enterprise to rebrand disability through the power of community. She is also the Founder of the Awesome Foundation Disability Chapter, a monthly micro-grant for disability projects that has awarded $15,500 USD to 16 projects in 5 countries. Previously, she worked at a venture-backed real estate startup, Sean Diddy Combs' REVOLT TV, and Bloomberg. She started my career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, working on $14 billion of announced transactions. She graduated with Honors from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, majoring in Finance and Accounting and minoring in Chinese Language and Asian Studies.

Ghalia Al Bajali

Ghalia born and raised in Jordan, is currently completing an MPA, specialising in Social Impact at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. While studying, Ghalia is currently working as Economic Analyst at Arabia Monitor, a leading economic and strategy research firm. Her work focuses on analysing the economic trends in MENA and the region's investment relations with China's BRI, while also drawing on the geopolitical and business implications from unfolding global events.

During her time at the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Ghalia is working with the European Investment Fund to map out the Fintech Ecosystem and highlight its economic drivers across the European Union. She is also the Vice Chair of the Association of Public Policy Students, working as a liaison representing the SPP students and supporting the overall operations of the association. Ghalia was also part of the 2019 ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ MIINT team, a global impact investing competition.

Ghalia completed her undergraduate degree in International Management and MENA Studies at SOAS, University of London. Prior to joining the MPA, she worked in a management consultancy, working with Fintech & Social Enterprises. She also has experience in managing philanthropic projects with venture funds and public entities focused on female leadership and empowerment. She is passionate about excelling public sector capacity through tech innovation and bridging the gap between the public-private sector in developing countries through promoting policies focused on impact investing and other alternative innovative financing mechanisms.

Louisa Boltz

Louisa is a second-year Master of Public Administration student specializing in the Social Impact policy stream. She is currently working for Roots of Impact, an impact finance consultancy, where she supports the company’s impact measurement and management practices. She also works closely with Bridge International Academies in her Capstone project to identify emerging opportunities in the educational sector to support undeserved communities in Kenya. In her first year, she participated as part of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ team in the MIINT competition, which strengthened her interest in impact investing. 

Prior to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Louisa gained work experience in management consultancy in the restructuring department, supporting clients with plausibility checks and liquidity planning. She holds a Bachelor degree in International Business from Maastricht University. 

Louisa is passionate about impact investing and she wants to use the knowledge and skills that she will gain from the MPA Social Impact stream to help high-impact social enterprises find funding and reach true scale. Further, she aims to support entrepreneurs in measuring and managing their impact.

Claire Cathro

Claire is a second-year ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ MPA student, passionate about finding creative and innovative solutions to the toughest social problems through gov-tech, social enterprise and user-centered design. Her background includes three years in management consulting with Deloitte's Canadian Strategy and Operations team where she worked with public sector clients to develop business transformation strategies, improve operational processes and design and implement technology systems.  She has a BAH in Global Development Studies from Queen’s University.

Maria Camila Jimenez

Maria Camila is part of the MPA class 2020 at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. She specialized in the Social Impact policy stream as she has a profound interest in entrepreneurship, innovation and social welfare. She developed this interest working on research and doing policy recommendations on productive development policies for Colombia at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Colombia (FESCOL) and in the Trade Office of the Embassy of Colombia in Mexico (ProColombia). Subsequently, she worked in enhancing female entrepreneurship and women economic empowerment in Mexico. Noticing the low participation of women in STEM areas she also volunteered in MET Community on helping female entrepreneurships succeed on the Science and Technology sectors in LATAM and the US.

While at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Maria Camila worked as a consultant in Cognoscere Consulting supporting Yes Futures in its mission to transform education in the UK acquiring new schemes to expand. She also worked as capstone consultant with the European Investment Fund where, she researched on the conditions that determine the growth of the fintech ecosystem across Europe.

Joe Wheeler

Joe Wheeler started his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Mongolia. He then worked at Dropbox for 5 years, spearheading the creation of Dropbox's charitable foundation and Social Impact program. At Gerson Lehrman Group, he regularly consults clients on social impact projects, and most recently he spent the summer with Save the Children International organizing a conference in Nairobi on preventing childhood pneumonia.

Ryan Dillon

Ryan Dillon is currently completing an MPA with a focus on social impact at the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. He is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs solving large and global problems in health, food, mobility, education, and the environment.

While studying for his MPA, Ryan currently works at Balderton Capital, a leading Series A venture capital fund investing in technology companies across Europe. He also serves as an investor for the Creator Fund, an early stage venture capital fund investing in Europe’s visionary student entrepreneurs.

As part of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Ryan is currently consulting Path on a scaling up maternal and newborn medical devices in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Senegal, and India. He is also a Principal at Cognoscere Consulting which is post-graduate consultancy working with social enterprises, non-profits, and the public sector. He was also a member of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ MIINT team last year. Outside the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Ryan is a founding committee member of the George Keverian Charitable Gift Foundation, which is scholarship fund for high school students creating positive change in Massachusetts.

 Prior to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, he worked at the Boston Consulting Group in the People & Organization Practice supporting clients with organization strategy, growth, and cost efficiency projects. He earned his B.A. in Economics and International Relations with a focus on the Middle East at Connecticut College.

Hans Frech La Rosa

Hans is an independent consultant working with Stratedu on research and strategic innovation for education institutions and organizations. He is also a Partner at the Bloomsbury Policy Group, a network of Latin American professionals with postgraduate education in the United Kingdom aiming to contribute to the design, delivery, and improvement of effective public policies in the region. While at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, he is the Community Engagement Chair at the MPA Student Association and Senior Editor for The Public Sphere Journal of Public Policy.

Prior to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, he worked for three years in the Peruvian Ministry of Education on policies to improve private education and reduce school violence. He has also worked in educational research for PUCP University. Parallel to his work, Hans has always been involved with NGOs in both urban and rural settings.

He advocates for a better use of social impact resources through evidence-based innovations and efficient management strategies. The MPA in Social Impact is a groundbreaking stream that will provide him the right tools to catalyze public and private resources for the continuous development of societies.”

Kelsey Jarrett

Kelsey received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 2013 with a degree in Human and Organizational Development with a concentration in International Leadership and Development, and a minor in Religious Studies. Before beginning the MPA program, she worked in the intersection of tech and politics in Washington, D.C. for four years. Her primary role was integrating technology and digital platforms into traditional political communication and campaign processes. At ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Kelsey is writing her dissertation on the use of social impact data in finance.

Gayatri Mehta

Gayatri is an MPA student specializing in the Social Impact policy stream. She currently works with Global Advisory Solutions at Accion International, a seed-stage impact investor, advisory practice and research think tank for financial institutions in emerging markets. Through ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, she has joined Cognoscere Consulting to support CareNX, a healthtech social enterprise that tackles maternal mortality in India, on a project to commercialize its products through the private sector. She also works closely with the European Investment Fund in her Capstone project to map out the fintech ecosystem in the European Union.  

Prior to the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Gayatri managed the Impact division within Amartha, a fintech startup in Indonesia with the mission to drive sustainable investments for women micro-entrepreneurs to achieve financial inclusion. There, she recognized the immense benefit of using financial technology to access the informal sector and worked with her team to communicate their research to policy-makers. She joined the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to better understand how to synthesize data into stories and effectively scale solutions through policy.

She loves working closely with passionate social entrepreneurs, and hopes to use the tools and principles she gains from the MPA Social Impact stream and the Marshall Institute to guide her career towards supporting social businesses in developing markets.

Katie Reberg

Katie was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is a second year Master of Public Administration student at the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. She completed her undergraduate degree in Social Policy and Global Health at Northwestern University. Raised in a politically active family, Katie has always been interested in the intersection between politics, policy making, and service delivery. She has translated this passion into a career focused on public sector capacity building and social impact measurement.

While Katie’s professional experience has been varied, she has maintained her focus on social impact and service delivery. Prior to the MPA, she worked as a public sector consultant, assisting in the development, management and monitoring of two social impact bonds in Utah. She has also worked at the microfinance organization One Acre Fund in Kigali, Rwanda, and as a field organizer for President Obama’s re-election campaign

During her studies, Katie is working part-time as an associate at Acumen’s Lean Data – helping social enterprises and investors align disparate incentives and create measurable impact for their customers, through participatory client-based surveys.

Jay Patel

While Jay's professional experience has been comprised of various private-sector finance roles, he has taken an active leadership role in the community as a volunteer board member for non-profit-organisations. Doing so has made him more cognizant of the social injustices that plague everyday life, and he is committed to use his finance skills to address these unjust equilibriums. Maximising his contribution to society by improving the quality of life for individuals who do not have the means to do so for themselves is what matters most to him.

Having studied entrepreneurship and finance before coming to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, he chose the MPA in Social Impact because he wanted to increase his cognitive flexibility and acquire useful mental models from the economics and political science fields. He plans to use the MPA in Social Impact as a platform to channel private sector capital towards investment opportunities that address unjust equilibriums by identifying, investigating, and promoting financially sustainable interventions.Further, these interventions will address market inefficiencies where opportunities remain to generate greater social and environmental impact per dollar invested.

Jay will be joining American Family Insurance in Madison, WI. In his new role, Jay will be building social impact investment capabilities for the firm. Additionally, he will be joining the Board of Directors for International Wealth Group and plans to continue taking an active leadership role in his community.

Chelsea Phipps

Chelsea is a consultant working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on international development policy advocacy to the European Union and global health finance. She is also working with the Oak Foundation on cross-sector donor coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and portfolio strategy. Chelsea earned her Master of Public Administration from London School of Economics and Political Science. While at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, she worked with UNICEF Kenya through an MPA Capstone Project on innovative development finance mechanisms. She was a Principal at Cognoscere Consulting, a social sector consulting firm run by ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ postgraduates, a Senior Editor for The Public Sphere, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s public policy journal, and a graduate intern for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's global policy and advocacy team.

Siddharth Rajgopalan

After graduating from the MPA, Siddharth has taken up a business development role at Palantir Technologies with the aim of helping critical commercial, government, and non-profit institutions leverage data to transform the way they operate.

Prior to the MPA, while fundraising from government and private sources to support Ground-Up Initiative, Singapore’s first eco-village, it became evident to Siddharth that there is a large gap in effective evidence-based financing mechanisms to meet the demand of the capital needed. Through this experience, he realised there are two interesting missing links in the system: effective ways of measuring social impact and consequently, appropriate methods of financing the impact where it is created. He is more interested in intellectually exploring the former area. 

There has been an exponential growth in the amount of public data available with the advent of social media and open data movements. This allows for interesting evidence-based policy delivery and evaluation methods. The econometric analysis methods learned through the MPA and his experience in digital marketing analytics at Expedia positions him well to leverage the tools of analytics in the public arena. The field is ripe with big data applications in many possible areas ranging from crime prevention to improving student achievement using predictive models. As a Marshall Social Impact scholar, Siddharth hopes to apply techniques of big data analytics and behavioural economics to effectively measure, evaluate and promote social impact.
