Biography
Sindhoora Pemmaraju is a PhD candidate in the Department of Media and Communications. Before joining the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Sindhoora completed her MA in Korean Modern Literature from Seoul National University's Department of Korean Language and Literature, where she specialized in modern Korean poetry. Her thesis at SNU focused on examining the act of eating as it appeared in the South Korean female poet Heo Su-gyeong's work. She was a recipient of the prestigious Global Korea Scholarship (2018) which helped her pursue her graduate studies in Seoul. Prior to this, Sindhoora had studied for a master's and bachelor's degree in English literature at Miranda House, University of Delhi. During her bachelor’s, Sindhoora was a researcher on a University of Delhi-sponsored research project entitled ‘Children’s Picture Books in India: Rethinking History, Storytelling and Pedagogy.’ She has recently received a grant from the Korea Foundation to support her PhD studies. Sindhoora also has professional work experience, having worked as a translator and editor in the South Korean webtoon industry for the past four years in Seoul after finishing her master’s at Seoul National University.
