About me

Mostafa is an Assistant Professor at the Hakubi Center for Advanced Research at Kyoto University. Prior to joining Kyoto University, he held a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship at Sophia University and worked as a Research Associate at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Chiba University.

His primary research interest includes exploring ethnicity and minority nationalism from an anthropological angle, with a particular focus on the context of politically unstable regions. He has worked on the Kurds' cross-border relations with extensive field research experience in the tri-border areas of Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.

His articles are published in various journals, including Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism and the Journal of Global Studies. Currently, he is actively developing his monograph, which delves into the everyday ethnicity of Kurmanji-speaking Kurds in Iran.
