CEMS Global Leadership

This course is compulsory on the CEMS Exchange. This course is not available as an outside option.

Pre-requisites

It is assumed that the students have already taken introductory Organisational Behaviour or Global Business courses. The 2nd year Global Master’s in Management students are offered these prerequisites during their 1st year.

Course content

This course aims to answer the question, “How can I manage people in international settings and from different cultures?” By answering this question, you will develop the skills to pursue an effective global career while keeping the core CEMS values of being responsible leaders contributing to a more open, sustainable, inclusive world. You will also develop an understanding of the challenges of interacting with and managing a diverse workforce in a complex environment characterized by distance-based interactions. Topics include: leader traits and attributes, cultural diversity, team leadership and virtual teams, power and influence, gender and the perception of leadership, organizational culture and change, global social responsibility.

Teaching

15 hours of lectures and 15 hours of seminars in the WT.

Students on this course will have a reading week in Week 6, in line with departmental policy.

Formative coursework

Students will be expected to produce 1 essay in the WT.
