Course content

The course consists of a live consultancy project with organisations such as the UN HABITAT, Global Fund, Save the Children and Coffee Gardens*. Students will work in groups of 3 to 5 people and will be able to express preferences for particular clients but may not be allocated to one of these. While the report is a product of students own research, the groups will be allocated an International Development staff member as a Coach for consultation. Each group will receive Terms of References (TOR) from their respective clients which they will use to write a report over two terms.

Moreover, the course will run workshops to assist students in areas ranging from formulating a proposal, negotiating TORs with clients, managing group dynamics etc. Also, there will be special sessions run with external experts in the field to help students get an understanding of how development works in practice.

The consultancy project begins in Michaelmas Term with client reports due at the end of Lent Term.

*Please note that the roster of clients change every year
