Additional criteria for the award of Merit/Distinction (scheme section 2):
Notes. The Exam Sub-Board 'local rules' differ from Section 2 of the Classification Scheme (the Scheme) in only two boundary cases, one for the award of Distinction, and another for the award of Merit. The boundary conditions are as follows: For the award of Distinction, the local rules differ from the Section 2 of the Scheme only if the student has exactly 4 classification marks at Distinction, and exactly 1 classification mark at Fail. In this case, to qualify for a Distinction, the aggregate in the non-failed courses must be at least 490. For the award of Merit, the local rules differ from Section 2 of the Scheme only if the student has 4 classification marks at Merit, 3 classification marks at Pass, and 1 classification mark at Fail. In this case, to qualify for a Merit, the aggregate in the non-failed courses must be at least 420.
2.2. For the award of Merit, a student must have: (d) exactly four classification marks at Merit, and exactly one Fail mark, and an aggregate mark of at least 420 (in the non-failed courses) |
