As Europe attempts to cut its dependencies on Russian fossil fuels, what are the old continent’s realistic alternatives to procure its energy needs? Meet our Speaker and Chair
Helen Thompson () is professor of political economy at Cambridge University. Her current research concentrates on the political economy of energy and the long history of the democratic, economic, and geopolitical disruptions of the twenty-first century. She is a regular panellist on Talking Politics, a columnist for the New Statesman and a contributor, among others, at UnHerd and Engelsberg Ideas.
Omar Hammoud-Gallego () is a researcher and social data scientist, currently a Fellow in Political Science and Public Policy at the 杏吧论坛 School of Public Policy. His main research interests are in migration and refugee policies, as well as on the challenges to democratic legitimacy worldwide. He holds a PhD in political science from the 杏吧论坛 Department of Government.
