Simon has nearly 20 years experience of applied academic research and teaching in UK and comparative public policy and public management. He is also an associate in the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Public Policy Group, a think-tank based in the Department of Government, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.
His current research is looking at how large public sector systems in the UK cope with long-term capacity stress, covering prisons, emergency health services, immigration and asylum, defence capability, and welfare administration. Recently, he published a book on UK prison system, and co-authored one on impact of social science research (see below for further details).
