Background
The Clarendon series originated when members of the Cambridge Institute of Criminology approached the Oxford University Press around the same time, coincidentally, that OUP had opened discussions with the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s Mannheim Centre to produce a series of monographs in criminology. These two institutions engaged in a joint venture together with the Oxford Centre for Criminological Research. The resulting Clarendon series superseded the Cambridge Studies in Criminology, which Sir Leon Radzinowicz had edited for many years.
Each of the three institutions was to provide members of an editorial board and would rotate the general editorship.
