There are so many ways you can get involved and be part of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ community!
There are also many ways you can get involved in Department activities! Check out the information in each section below to find out more about the opportunites and related roles!
Student Academic Representatives are very important to the Department and the School. They ensure that student concerns are addressed and that students have a say in the running of their programme. Student Academic Representatives help the Department work to improve the student experience both in and outside of the classroom. Reps attend Department meetings and raise issues about the quality of their programme and the experience as an ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ student, including the things they love and the things that can be improved. An election for each programme takes place at start of the year and training is provided by Department and the Student’s Union. You can find out more about the role of the Student Academic Representatives here and on the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ SU website .
PLEASE NOTE: Please keep an eye out for communications from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳SU about how to get involved in these roles.
A student-led committee is formed at the start of each academic year. Students on the committee are given a budget and the freedom to organise both academic and social events. The committee is expected to hold regular meetings and organise events throughout the year that are inclusive for all students in the Department. The committee is also tasked with creating a unique yearbook which will serve as a souvenir for you of your year at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ once you graduate. Students are responsible for developing a high-quality personalised publication, and act as an editorial team responsible for deciding on the design and content of the book.
Are you interested in sustainability? Are you keen to promote green practices and initiatives? Then get involved with the Social Policy Green Team! As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to create, initiate and lead on green themed projects throughout the year with involvement from staff, faculty and students in the Department.
