Undergraduate Research Internships

Each year the department runs three to five summer research internships for first and second year BSc Sociology students. It is a good opportunity to involve our students in our research community, and our research interns work with a member of academic staff on a research project, gaining valuable skills and experience. 

Open to first and second year BSc Sociology students, please check your emails in Winter Term to find out more and apply!

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Congress - Department of Sociology team

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Congress is a simulation activity where students are invited to explore how ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s research can contribute to the progress towards the .

Each Department can put forward one team, made up of 10 students across both of BSc and MSc programmes. Our team has now been selected, and we will keep you updated on our teams progress!

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Change Makers 

Change Makers is a collaborative programme between ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and  which gives current students the chance to make meaningful change at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ through team-based independent research. Applications are particularly welcome which put forward innovative and creative approaches to investigating the education and student experience at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.

Work with ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳'s Widening Participation team

The Widening Participation (WP) team works with young people from under-represented backgrounds in state schools and colleges to raise aspirations and awareness, support attainment and instil confidence to progress to higher education. ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ students are essential to WP schemes, acting as inspiring role models and sources of information and support, and roles include being a student ambassador, a maths tutor, a mentor and more.
