100 Foot Journey Club

The ‘100 Foot Journey Club’ is an initiative of the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ South Asia Centre and the High Commission of India in the UK.

At the inaugural event on 10 May 2016, 'Rethinking the Global Monetary System' by Dr Raghuram Rajan, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, H.E. Mr Navtej Sarna, the High Commissioner of India shared with the audience the origin of the '100 Foot Journey Club'. In a meeting with the Director of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ in March 2016, Mr Sarna proposed that regular events be held jointly on issues of contemporary relevance, including research being carried out on India by ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ academics in order to bolster long standing relations and close proximity of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and the High Commission of India. The proposal was well taken and it was immediately agreed to strengthen the existing ties with ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ through a new Club.

The Club gets its name from the distance between ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and the High Commission of India on Aldwych, as represented in the logo (designed by Oroon Das). It hosts academic events, film screenings, book launches and other activities of mutual interest at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, India House or the Nehru Centre.
