The Department of Mathematics

Studying maths at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ has really highlighted the importance of the subject to me. This ranges from the calculus I use in my economics courses to the logical and analytical thought process valued by employers. I feel well supported in my studies by my class teachers, the Maths Support Centre and my peers.

What is it like to study mathematics at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳?

The Department of Mathematics offer three undergraduate degree programmes, all of which provide students with rigorous technical, analytical and statistical training. BSc Mathematics with Economics programme has mathematics as its major subject, with it making up approximately 75 per cent of the degree and economics as its minor subject. BSc Mathematics and Economics is a joint degree where students study equal amounts of both disciplines. Students can take courses in macro and micro economics, discrete mathematics and algorithms and financial mathematics. Our BSc Financial Mathematics and Statistics programme addresses the interaction between the two disciplines, provides students with knowledge of economics, finance, stochastics, coding and computation.
