Leading accounting research with real-world impact.

The Accounting Research EXCHANGE series exposes students to the latest accounting research and promotes an active exchange of ideas between faculty, student, and industry experts. 

The Department of Accouting will be hosting two Accounting Research EXCHANGE seminars in the Winter Term. Each seminar will conclude with an informal networking session, offering attendees an opportunity to connect, share perspectives, and explore unanswered questions.

• Thursday, 6 March: Innovation Through an Accounting Lens 
  

  Innovation is crucial for economic growth and firm success. Yet measuring and managing innovation presents distinct challenges due to its unique nature. This Accounting Research Exchange explores how accounting research offers distinctive insights into understanding and fostering innovation. Dr Furkan Cetin will present cutting-edge research on two critical dimensions: how accounting and disclosure regulations shape innovation outcomes, and how accounting research methods illuminate the innovation process. Drawing on recent advances in Large Language Models and textual analysis, the discussion will highlight how accounting's specialised toolkit helps resolve the complex information challenges surrounding innovation. Dr Cetin’s presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring experienced professionals who will share practical insights from the field. The session will be particularly relevant for those interested in the intersection of accounting, innovation, technology, and economic growth.

• Wednesday, 12 March: Analysing Financial Analysts: Insights from Research and Practice 
  

  Financial analysts play a pivotal role in capital markets and business intelligence. This Accounting Research Exchange explores the essential contributions of analysts in shaping decision-making processes and outcomes, alongside the challenges they face in an ever-evolving regulatory and competitive landscape. Dr Jeroen Koenraadt will present cutting-edge research on the evolving role of analysts, followed by a panel discussion featuring seasoned professionals who will share practical insights and experiences from the field. This session is particularly relevant for those interested in financial markets and seeking a deeper understanding of one of its key players — financial analysts.
