Anu’s research sits at the intersection of domestic finance, community vulnerability, and climate adaptation in South Asia. Specifically, her thesis focuses on physical climate risks to socio-economically vulnerable borrowers in India and its implications for financial institutions involved in priority sector lending and financial regulation in the country.
Before commencing her PhD, Anu worked for over seven years with Acclimatise – now part of the , WTW – providing technical assistance on climate adaptation and resilience projects in South and South East Asia. Prior to that Anu was with the New Delhi-based think tank (CPR) where she undertook research and published papers on sub-national climate planning in India. She started her career as a business and environmental journalist with the India affiliates of CNBC and CNN. Given her past role as a journalist, Anu has worked on critical discourse analyses of climate change in the media and has contributed to book chapters on the topic.
Anu holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management (distinction) from the University of Oxford and a Master’s in Mass Communication (distinction) from Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communications in India. Anu is a Chevening Scholar and fellow of the US Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Programme. She is also the recipient of the Willis Research Network grant.
