About me

Margarida’s research looks at how economic complexity, a measure of the knowledge embedded in products and services, affects regional disparities and income inequality. She is particularly interested in assessing regional capabilities and understanding how they influence regional development paths and income distribution patterns. Her research is funded by a PhD scholarship from FCT, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

Prior to joining the PhD programme, she completed the MSc Local Economic Development at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ (with distinction) and MSc Economic Policy at Utrecht University (cum laude). She holds a BA in Business and Economics from Trinity College Dublin and spent a semester as visiting international student in Economics at Barnard College, Columbia University.
