Creating a sustainable ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and engaging with climate issues

Green Impact is an designed to help organisations implement environmentally and socially sustainable practice. We're proud to be part of Green Impact at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and have achieved Platinum Award in 2023 and 2024.

Our Green Impact team members are passionate about sustainability and concerned about the environment. We're committed to ensuring sustainability is factored into every area of department life. This means working on practical measures to make the department more sustainable and running initiatives to promote sustainable thinking and actions.

We also encourage people across the department to engage in the discussion on climate change and bring their knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm to bear on this most urgent of problems.

‘IT ALL ADDS UP’ is about the little things we do in our daily lives and how they impact our world. Every additional gram of CO2 in the atmosphere pushes us closer to the . But on the flip side, there are small everyday actions we can all take to help create a more sustainable world and tackle climate change. They may feel insignificant on their own, but if everyone takes time to make small adjustments it can all add up to a brighter future.

We've got lots of initiatives, events and content planned for the coming year, but here are some suggestions to get you started: 

  • Switch off
    Switch off computers, lights and electronics when you're not using them.
  • Refill
    and fill up at , and use a .
  • Reduce
    Avoid single use plastic and cut down on food waste.
  • Step up
    instead of the lift.
  • Change your travel
    or walking to campus.
