Inside IDEAS: what is it like to work at a leading university think tank?

co-hosted with the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳SU United Nations Society.

Three staff members, from various different research programmes at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS, engage in a dynamic discussion about their work environment in addition to taking audience questions.

This panel discussion was organised as a spinoff event of the 2019 Diplomacy Ball, sponsored by ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS. The Diplomacy Ball, and three related events in collaboration with the UN, the Amnesty International and the Grimshaw ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳SU Societies, aim to explore and scrutinise a common theme: 'Navigating International Affairs in an Age of Uncertainty'.

Speakers

Vlad Zigarov is Programme Manager for the Central and South-East Europe Programme and Project Associate in the Cold War Studies Project at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS. He holds an MSc in International History from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and an MA from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at UCL. He previously studied Philosophy, History and International Affairs at the University of Bucharest and worked in a number of state and private organisations in Romania and the UK.

Lisa ten Brinke is a Research Associate for two projects at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ IDEAS: the Dahrendorf Forum and the UN Business and Human Security Initiative. Lisa holds an MSc in International Relations from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, specialising in foreign policy analysis and EU external relations. She previously held positions at international NGO One Young World, think tank Chatham House, and the Dutch Embassy in Colombia.

Gidon Gautel is the China Foresight Project Coordinator. A current BSc Government and Economics Student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Gidon has studied Mandarin and Business Chinese at Tsinghua University. Previously he has worked in advisory positions in Hong Kong & Shanghai, and with Chinese clients in Germany. Alongside his work at China Foresight, Gidon is engaged in the comparative study of innovation, technology and regulation in China and the West at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳
