ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Careers offers support to students in the Department of International Relations throughout the year. Dedicated IR Career Consultant  runs a series of sessions throughout the year on tailoring your CV, applying for a PhD, connecting with alumni and much more! He also offers additional one-on-one appointments for IR students .

The Digital Skills Lab helps you develop the key skills you need to support your personal and professional development, and opportunities to increase your digital fluency. You can book online courses or in person workshops on AI, Excel, coding languages and much more.

Millennium Journal of International Studies

Millennium is based in the IR department and is a peer-reviewed and highly ranked international journal edited completely by post-graduate students. Each October, the annual Millennium conference is held at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. Students working with Millennium can enhance critical skills while gaining organisational experience and staying up-to-date with the latest research.

Grimshaw Club 

The Grimshaw Club is ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s oldest student society and has a special relationship with the International Relations Department. Established in 1923, it is open to students studying all subjects, with an interest in international affairs. The Grimshaw Club organises both social and academic activities throughout the year as well as international trips.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Phelan US Centre 

The ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Phelan United States Centre is a hub for global expertise, analysis, commentary and useful resources on America. It runs a public event series with high profile speakers including academics and policymakers, the USA Politics and Policy (USAPP) , and the Undergraduate Research Assistantship (UGRA) programme, among other initiatives.

In addition to using the library for research, you are able to book study rooms or study spaces throughout the Library. Our dedicated International Relations Librarian, Paul Horsler, provides individual research consultations for students and staff to help with finding information and using library resources effectively.

Student Wellbeing

In the first instance, you can speak to our Department Senior Student Adviser who will help you to navigate (alongside your Academic Mentor and other departmental colleagues) the advice and support services available, and to assist you with your wellbeing needs. 

Student Wellbeing offers one-to-one support for mental heath as well as peer and academic support. The  offers confidential advice and support to students with  physical impairments, long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, specific learning difficulties, and autistic spectrum conditions.The Student Support Map signposts you to the support available at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.
