ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ language policy

This policy was launched on Friday 22 October 2010

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ is not just a multi-national university but also a multi-lingual one.

  • An exhortation to learn a language by the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Director.
  • Getting greater departmental buy-in to the idea of language learning.
  • Branding ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ as not just a multi-national university but also a multi-lingual one.
  • Clear statements of support for languages in all relevant promotional materials.
  • Stressing the importance of language skills not only for employability but also for intellectual value.
  • Offering a free modern language non degree course to UK/EU undergraduate students who do not have a GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in a language that is not their mother tongue.
  • If you think you are eligible for a free course under the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ language policy then follow the normal registration and payment process. You can then make a claim using the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ language policy claim form.
  • Please note:
    • GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent is the level of our Level 2 (Fast Track), so you would need to be claiming for a course at that level or below.
    • The spirit of this part of the policy is to encourage mono-lingual students to learn a second language! So, for example, if you are a French speaker studying at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, you already have English as your second language.
