Dr Bethania Antunes is Associate Professor (Education) of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Management, where she teaches courses in Human Resource Management, primarily at postgraduate level. Prior to joining ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, Bethania held positions at the University of Greenwich, where she served as Academic Director of the MA International HRM, and more recently, as Assistant Professor of HRM at the University of Surrey.
Bethania earned her PhD from ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, where she examined pay strategy in large non-profit organisations in the UK as they take on the role of public service providers. Her research interests include prosocial behaviour, volunteering, non-profit management, pay practices, and gender equality in the workplace. Her work focuses on sustainable HR practices, and she aims to advance academic knowledge on how organisations engage with social issues and make a positive impact in the workplace and in the communities in which they operate.
Bethania’s research has been published in international academic journals, and she has won external grants and produced research reports funded by the European Commission, Low Pay Commission, and the Trade Union Congress. She is currently collecting data for a study examining the challenges and opportunities associated with corporate volunteering programs and how employers and working conditions can facilitate (or not) employee volunteering.
Bethania has experience delivering training to senior healthcare managers in the Leadership Program of the NHS Foundation Trust, and she is interested in building partnerships with stakeholders in employing organisations, as well as working with corporate volunteering programs, to help organisations to create a culture of continuous improvement so they can better serve the people they support.
