Housing, Land and Property

Research on this theme brings together the largest inter-disciplinary group of experts on Housing, Land and Property at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, spanning Real Estate Economics, Urban Geography and Planning.

Our research contributes to understanding the dynamics of urban change, the impact of policies on housing markets, and the implications of land ownership and property rights on social inequality and environmental sustainability. We have expertise on London and the UK as well as wider expertise drawing on research across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

Our research in Real Estate Economics investigates the determinants and dynamics of land values, house values and rents, the economic impacts of land use regulation and housing and tax policies, the role of credit markets and commercial real estate. Our work in Planning is at the forefront of research on land value, regulation and density.

In Urban Geography, we examine the political economy of land, housing and property, with particular focus on the dynamics of gentrification, displacement and the politics of property in settler and postcolonial contexts.
